Episode 10: Sea Power with Commander Salamander

This week we are joined by Commander Salamander. Working under a nom-de-plum, the Commander is a retired Navy office and active voice across topics of Naval strategy and tactics, planning, and response. A celebrated blogger, Commander Sal is a funny, brilliant, and delightful interlocutor.

In this conversation Sal, Michael, and Kate wax across topics including the inflection points that changed the course of the U.S.’ Naval readiness and the decisions behind them. From the role of the Navy in the current global situation, including the movement of forces outside of Gaza, to the future of maritime security as China grows its capabilities and Russia struggles- The Canary Group looks forward to what the future of sea power may hold.

More than any specific issues of sea power, Sal underscores the foundation of success is good leadership. His experience and perspective are inspiring and worth a listen on its own.

It was an honor to speak with such a knowledgeable and thoughtful expert. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
